The 10th-Anniversary Stadium (Stadion Dziesięciolecia) was built on the Praga bank of the Vistula largely from wartime rubble and opened in July 1955. From 1989 its crumbling embankments housed Jarmark Europa, one of Europe's largest open-air markets, which closed in 2007. The National Stadium was built inside the old bowl in 2008–2011 and hosted the opening match of UEFA Euro 2012.
